Tembec’s Matane group is responsible for supplying the Matane high-yield pulp mill in the Lower St. Lawrence (LSL) region. Although this group is not responsible for forest management, it plays an active role in forest certification on Lower St. Lawrence public land.
Tembec works directly with and chairs the region’s forest certification management group (Corporation de gestion de la certification forestière en territoire public au BSL). Tembec is also the industry’s representative on the regional development commission (CRRNT). Tembec works with local industry on projects related to the region’s regional development plan.
Formed in 2011, the Corporation de gestion de la certification en territoire public au BSL is governed by a board of directors that includes representatives of all the TSFMA beneficiaries and of the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks, who act as advisors. The governing body is an executive committee of the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. The Corporation has a coordinator who is responsible for working with all stakeholders and the auditors. Tembec instigated this group in 2008.

To harmonize land uses, the people responsible for land use management consult with other users and Aboriginal communities in meetings, public consultations and via the integrated resource management and planning committee. Despite the consultation process conducted by the MFFP and the managers of each MU, you may submit your comments to Tembec at any time.
